Step by step training
From private pilot to professional pilot license
The modular program offered by Aéropyrénées allows you to progress step by step through the various stages of training.
The first phase is the Private Pilot License, or PPL.
Once obtained, you can proceed with the various theoretical and practical courses, leading to the Commercial Pilot License (CPL), complemented by the IR / MEP / MCC.

Private Pilot License – PPL
This license (Private Pilot Licence, or PPL) alows you to act without being paid, as pilot-in-command on any type of aircraft (for which the pilot holds the relevant rating), with passengers on board.
The license is issued in accordance with JAR-FCL regulations, which are common and recognized throughout Europe.
Once you obtain the PPL, you can continue your training and apply for various license extensions (ratings), such as night flight, flying a different type of aircraft from the one on which you were trained, or mountain flying. You can also progress toward a professional license.
Theoretical training cours
The preparation courses for the theoretical exam of the private pilot license are offered at the Aéropyrénées training center, either in group sessions or customized, at your convenience.
- Theoretical cours as an individuall or in small groupe : 30 hours
Theoretical exam of Private Pilot License consists of 9 modules :
- Air law
- Human performance
- Meteorology
- Communication
- General navigation
- Principles of flight
- Operational procedures
- Performance and flight preparation
- General aircraft knowledge
Practical training cours
During this training, you will complete 45 flight hours:
- 30 hours of flight instruction
- 5 hours of instruction on a flight simulator
- 10 hours of solo flight
During these 45 hours, you will learn the basics of piloting and, most importantly, different types of navigation (heading and time navigation, radio navigation, etc.). You will then have the opportunity to pursue additional ratings, including the Night Flight Qualification (NFQ), which requires 5 hours of night flying.
The PPL training also includes an introduction to IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flying.
You may also complete an additional instrument rating (CB-IR).
This training takes place over a period of 3 to 24 months depending on the time you devote to it
Theoretical ATPL on site
The ATPL, or Airline Transport Pilot License, is the theoretical European license essential for a career as an airline pilot.
It consists of 13 modules or subjects, which can be completed either on-site or remotely.
Each license (CPL/Commercial Pilot License, IR/Instrument Rating) includes both practical and theoretical components. By obtaining your ATPL Theory, you will not need to take the theoretical exams for these licenses individually.

The certificates are assessed through multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that you will take at a DGAC center. To obtain a certificate, you must achieve 75% correct answers.
The preparation duration for an ATPL Theory is approximately 9 months. However, you have 18 months (from the validation of the first certificate) to complete your 14 modules.
The two programs offered, ATPL on-site or remotely, are now available under the new 100 KSA standards.More information.
During this training you will benefit from personalized support. examinations prior to passing to DGAC will be carried out within the school.
Online ( remote ) theoretical ATPL
Aéropyrénées also offers the option to complete the ATPL Theory remotely. This option can be an interesting compromise if you wish to pursue your theory alongside a job or your studies, for example.
It is also based on 13 modules or subjects, which you must complete within a maximum duration of 18 months.
The details of the modules, the exam process, and the prerequisites for entering the training are the same as those for the on-site ATPL Theory.

In adittion to personalized monitoring and educational supervision, you will carry out on-site revision sessions during the weekend ( Sunday to Tuesday )
For going further
The training includes mandatory on-site review sessions (10 days) throughout your entire program, which take place every quarter.
Through your access to our E-learning platform, you will be able to access revisions, assessments, and self-evaluations. The validation of your exam registration will be supervised by the educational coordinator once you are ready.
You will be supervised by a dedicated instructor who will support you throughout your training.

Hour building
Before entering the CPL program, you will need to complete a maturity phase. This phase will allow you to accumulate enough flight hours for the next step in your professional pilot training.
Aéropyrénées offers competitive rates for completing these flight hours on its fleet of aircraft.
The maturity phase is typically conducted on PA28, PA38, or GROB115 aircraft.
Entry into CPL requires a minimum of 175 flight hours, including 100 hours PIC ( pilot in command )
CPL
The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) allows you to operate as a pilot for a salary.
For aircraft used in public transport, it also enables you to serve as a co-pilot or pilot-in-command.
The CPL program includes various flight sessions or simulator training, along with theoretical courses.
The training is carried out over a period of 5 to 6 weeks
Instrument Rating – IR/SE & IR/ME
The goal of the IR (Instrument Rating) training is to enable the pilot to fly both day and night under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and in IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions). It prepares the trainee for techniques related to flying without visibility.
The IR is, of course, essential for employment with an airline, as flights are conducted under IFR conditions.
The training takes place on an FNPT II simulator and in an aircraft.
The taining is carried out over a period of 12 weeks
Multi Engine Piston – MEP(T)
MEP training will allow you to fly multi-engine aircraft.
You will learn how to deal with different scenarios specific to this class of aircraft.
Highly anticipated by students during training, fliying on twin engines will allow you to put into practice all the knowledge acquired in a real situation
Prerequisites for MEP(T) training
Multi Crew Coordination – MCC
The MCC (Multi-Crew Coordination) training will teach you how to work effectively as a crew.
Regulations for operating passenger transport aircraft require that the flight crew consists of two pilots.
The Multi-Crew Coordination training aims to prepare and develop pilots’ interpersonal skills, guiding them in task distribution and assignment on board. Tasks will be carried out by the PF (Pilot Flying) and the PM (Pilot Monitoring) during all phases of flight, in normal, emergency, or rescue conditions.
The pilot will become familiar with high-performance aircraft equipped with complex systems.
The organization on board such aircraft is very different from the public’s perception, which often imagines a captain handling all tasks while the co-pilot plays a assistant role.
Crew work follows a very demanding logic, based on very precise rules for task disributions, communications, technical announcements and cross-checks.

Multi crew cooperation training is the final step of the training program. Its effectiveness often determines success in airline selection. Therefore, MCC is essential and should never be overlooked.
The objective is to ensure that the candidate understands and satisfactorily performs all tasks and procedures carried out as a crew to maintain optimal decision-making, communication, and feedback.
The basic methods of crew work (checklists, mutual supervision, support, precision in vocabulary, and interpersonal behavior) will be studied and applied in all phases of a flight under normal and/or degraded conditions, focusing on the general principles applicable to any aircraft.
