Today, drones play an increasingly important role in various sectors such as surveillance, topography, photography, and videography. To carry out these professional missions, it is now mandatory to go through the DGAC (Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile).

To do this, one must undergo professional training that includes both practical and theoretical components.

The profession of drone remote pilot is rapidly growing, thanks to numerous applications emerging that allow for a variety of tasks we are taking about a ” modern and evolving ” profession.

Minimum age: 14 years

Training content

The theoretical training for drone pilots takes place over one week and consists of 11 modules:

  • Regulation
  • General knowledge of drones
  • Instrumentation
  • Flight performance, preparation, and monitoring
  • Human performance
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Data link and radio navigation
  • Operational procedures
  • Principles of flight
  • Communications

The exam is conducted in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQ).

The practical training lasts for 25 hours and consists of several phases:

  • Introduction to the machine
  • Setup of equipment
  • Mission flight preparation
  • Aircraft flight preparation
  • Briefings / Debriefings and feedback
  • Flight in normal conditions
  • Flight in abnormal conditions

The practical training is conducted by professionals and instructors approved by the DGAC.
