Aéropyrénées and ATR: a partnership that opens the doors of Braathens to our students

Selection of four Aéropyrénées students for Braathens as part of the partnership with ATR

Aéropyrénées is pleased to announce the selection of four student pilots as part of a partnership with aircraft manufacturer ATR and the airline Braathens Regional Airlines, based in Sweden. This is a great opportunity for these young professionals and also a testament to the quality of training delivered at our school.

Following a selection process conducted jointly by Aéropyrénées, ATR, and Braathens, four candidates were chosen to join the airline on ATR aircraft. They are currently completing their Type Rating training at ATR’s facilities in Toulouse, fully immersed in the manufacturer’s environment.

In just a few weeks, a new chapter awaits: their first line flights, departing from their future base in Austria. They will join Braathens crews on commercial operations as first officers on a modern and demanding regional fleet.

This collaboration highlights the trust placed in Aéropyrénées to prepare operational, professional pilots who meet airline needs. It is also a proud achievement for our educational and technical teams, who support students closely in their professional journeys.

We extend our congratulations to the selected students and our best wishes for their continued success! We also sincerely thank the ATR and Braathens teams for the trust they have placed in us.

What did your training at Aéropyrénées bring you, both personally and professionally ?

The training at Aéropyrénées allowed me to acquire a solid foundation with passionate theoretical and practical instructors. I also appreciated the family spirit, which greatly helps in developing soft skills, so essential in aviation.

How did you experience the selection process ?

The selection is always a somewhat stressful moment, but the teams from ATR and Braathens immediately put us at ease so we could give our best. The ATR simulator part of the selection is all the more impressive when it’s your first time, but once again, we were very well supported.

How do you feel right now, during your ATR Type Rating and as you approach your integration with Braathens ?

The Type Rating on the ATR 72-600 went very well; being with fellow Aéropyrénées classmates was a real plus. The five-week training is quite intense, but the ATR instructors are very competent and answer all our questions precisely. All the training materials provided and the working environment are greatly appreciated.

I’m eager to start at Braathens to collaborate with all the teams, to get an even closer look at commercial aviation, and to safely transport our passengers across Europe.

What has your training at Aéropyrénées brought you, both personally and professionally ?

My training at Aéropyrénées was an important step in my pilot journey. It provided me with a solid foundation, both theoretically and practically. Beyond technical skills, I learned to know myself, manage stress, and work effectively in a team, qualities that proved essential during the selection process.

How did you experience the selection process ?

The selection was an intense moment, both challenging and educational. The HR interviews, psychological assessments, and simulator evaluations pushed me to give my best. Although demanding, I have very positive memories of it: it’s a true recognition of our work and commitment.

How do you feel right now, during your ATR Type Rating and as you approach your integration with Braathens ?

We have just completed our ATR Type Rating. The transition to the world of commercial aviation is becoming tangible; learning the SOPs and managing aircraft systems fascinates me. The environment is very professional, and we are very well supported in this new stage. Joining a dynamic airline with a modern ATR fleet and a strong operational culture is a real opportunity. It is the culmination of several years of work, but also the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
